I can’t believe that the Kiwanis TV auction is coming up April 28th. This is such a great fundraiser for youth programs in the region. (We also fund some organizations, as it relates to poverty needs.)

You should check out the website at: www.kiwanisduluth.com

Young children are our number one priority. There are many perils that face the children of the world today. The Kiwanis Club of Friendly Duluth is dedicated toward eliminating those perils and giving children everywhere better lives and higher stands of living through service programs.

We fund these and many others: Men as Peacemakers, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Friends of the St. Croix Headwaters, Little Treasurers, Duluth Family Visitation Center, Duluth East Robotics, Duluth Children’s Museum, Chum, Chester Bowl Ski Race, Bethany Crisis Shelter, Bentleyville Tour of Lights, Neighhood Youth, North Country Ride, Kids Closet, Lake Superior Youth Choirs, Life House, Northern Lights Foundation, Northland Youth Music Program, Positive Energy Outdoor Ventures, all grad parties, RIF, Salvation Army Rookie Basketball, Scottish Rite Clinic, Seeds of Youth Hope Rance, St. Louis County Extension Service, WDSE WRPT Public Educational TV, YMCA, YMCA Mentor Duluth Party, Junior Achievement and the list goes on and on.

Have you seen the posters and information about the Mustache March Run? The smaller flyers even have a stache you can cut out for your facebook page. The race prices are determined by when you buy you participation ticket.

There are many sponsors. I thought it was funny to go on this out of town website:

www.MustacheMarchRun.com

You have to admit people in Duluth know how to have fun.

There are awards for the top 3 men and women mustaches. All participants get a Mustache March Run pint glass.

Beat this stache. I tried to upload my picture but it wouldn’t load up. The file was too big. Must of been the stache was too big.

Stress Can Kill You, if not

cause you do get sick or even develop a disease. Emotional stress affects people physically over time.

The Mayo Clinic did a research study and found that the number one predictor of heart attacks was stress. Don’t wait until the pain is in your chest or running down your arms.  Increased stress increases your cortisol levels. One can become prone to diabetes from increased stress, as your blood sugar levels will go up. We all know that diabetes can kill you.

Did you know that there is good stress and  bad stess? Learn to get rid of the bad stress by dealing with the problem. I know that is easier to say when one is not working your job or walking in your shoes.

Be sure to not be a pot stirrer at work and at home. Don’t let things brew inside you like anger, repressed feelings, hostility, resentment, and toxic emotions that are left unsettled. Deal with it.

Life is not always a bowl or roses (or cherries). There’s a lot more to be stressed about these days.

People seemed to be happier in the 50′s. Was that when Father Knows Best was on TV? Yes, Peggy and Jim Anderson were married and happy.

Even during the great depression years people were not as stressed. They had learned to live with less back then.

Today after years of hoarding stuff in our houses, buying like a shop acholic ,we get stressed because our needs are not being met. There are so many people with out anything. How can be stressed by not having an abundance of things?

If you have a house or an apartment you are often warmed by your surroundings.  You have a roof over your head. You are not sleeping outside in a tent, in a box, or in a tunnel.

Stress has an affect on specific diseases. It is linked to breast cancer, colon cancer, and even cancers in general. It’s also linked to autoimmune disorders, allergies, diabetes, and even skin diseases.

Our life expectancy has dropped in the United States. People are dying from diseases. I always say, you don’t have to look far to see someone in far worse shape than you.

In third world countries children die by leaps and bounds. There isn’t clean water or even resovoirs to grow crops more than one time per year. People are dying from unclean water and lack of food. Skip the malaria, that’s not as important.

In the United States we are dying from inflammation in the lining of our blood vessels. Why? We are eating way too many chemicals, toxins, and food preservatives.  Our diets are poor and lack the grains, and other foods that our ancestors lived on. People are becoming pickled from chemicals.

Learn to eat fresh food, and real natural foods.

Remember the song Tim McGraw would sing, Live Each day Like You are Dying. Cancer patients appreciate life.

Appreciate each day. Some only have hours, minutes before they die. Appreciate what  you have, you have not walked in their shoes.

Go back to simple.  Go for less.  Purge. You came in with little, do you have to leave a bundle of stuff?

Ever golfed 9 holes on the bay? Well, there is a whole lot more to this fun activity being planned that is new and different.

Since I have never done it, I can’t tell you everything. It will be after the fact.

This will be fun.

Think snow.

The Anchor Church located on 52nd Avenue East and Colorado is growing by leaps. They know have three services. Saturday at 6:00 p.m., Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and Sunday at 10:45 a.m.  This is the church that moved into the Vineyard Church location.

The Anchor Church is a community church that gathers to experience God, improve at following Christ and meet others needs. I am always amazed at their services. Each is unique and different. Actually today they had communion.

I love the music and songs. I think I am getting use to songs that are not always traditional. At Christmas they had more traditional songs.

Today’s service was a continuation of Beyond Religion, Religion vs Relationships. Some religions are so engrained in tradition and  it give its members an empty religion. Not this church. They encourage you to think, love, experience, feel and receive his Holy name.

It is up to us to choose our relationship with God. We all know great things are accomplished through love and a passionate feeling or path.

Sometimes we get so entrenched in our own self interests, our events, and what we have achieved. That is not what religion all be about.

I think what sticks out in my mind is what Pastor Sorvik said, and it makes me contemplate. I will think about these messages all week. He used the words in a different context but I will knit my relationship with God together through love, experiences, and receiving his Holy name.

www.anchorpointchurch.org

They have a lead pastor, pastor, elders, and others who represent different aspects of the congregation.

This is the church that teaches kids to play guitar on certain evenings. The program is called RIFF.

They are just completing a Preparing for Marriage Class, and have many other engaging activities.

Their core values are: ardent, net, connected, hearing, outfitted, and real & accountable. You will have to come to church to get the program to read more about their values.

One of our donors to the Kiwanis TV Auction (April 28th) is Daughtery Appliances. This year they are donating a GE Washer and Dryer Set valued at $1050.00.  Who doesn’t need a new washer and dryer? I personally know mine has been going strong for more than 10 years, and they both still work. These GE’s last forever from my experience.

I think people are going to bid on these items.

The 7.0 Cu. Ft. GE Electric Dyer w/Dura Drum has 4 heat solutions, and it is auto dry. The color of the dryer is white. You all know what great products GE has, this is a beauty.

The 4.3 C. Ft. Top load GE washer w/infusor, is precise fill, 2011 tier 1 E Star, white in color.  In fact it looks like the one I have but is brand new. Mine is more than 10 years old.

I love  my GE washer and dryer. They last forever.

Daughtery Appliance Sales & Service is located at 3931 W. lst Street, Duluth. You know they may have other stores in the area, like Cloquet.  Daughtery fixes your appliances as well. They have great service and support youth programs in the region.
