Susan Bussa was nominated by Altrusa. She helped organize and participated as a short-term medical and surgical team member in Ghana, which performed 50-60 surgeries per day and provided medical care to 500-800 villagers.
She has done medical coverage for Grandma’s Marathon for the past 29 years, where she received honors in 2003 and received the Verizon Award of Excellence in 2009.
Susan organized medical care for the MN Mile and Whippersnapper races. She worked with the Incline Marathon Medical Team since its inception. She was the Birkebiner XC ski race medical care coordinator at the finish line for nine years.
She also did first aid coverage for Bentleyville.
Susan has traveled for short term medical projects to Africa, Asia, and South America since 1981. From all of these volunteer experiences Susan states, “We are truly blessed to be born in the United States.”
Susan has done some amazing volunteer work as a nurse.
