DASH Diet for Hypertension

23 Jun

The DASH Diet is something given to me about looking for the hidden causes of hypertension in your diet. You could probably google it. Blood pressure that is over 120/80 is considered not healthy and you are a health risk.

Besides the DASH diet you should have a healthy weight, be active, walking is really good, do not eat salt or sodium in your diet, and don’t drink alcohol.

The DASH is low in fats and cholesterol type foods. It wants you to eat more fruits, vegetables and only low fat dairy. A person needs to eat more fish, poultry, nuts, and whole grain products. Less red meat, no meat twice a week, eliminate beverages that have sugar in them and for sure no more sweets.

Most people only need 1600-2800 calories per day.  All of us should be reading the labels.
