Health Care Centers in The State

July 06

I listened to a conversation recently about whether local hospitals would combine forces. Could this be the future of health care in our state? Will the big hospitals swallow and buy up the smaller hospitals in this city and the state?

Since 2000 there are been 56 health care centers that have closed in the state. This is a lot of nursing care. Aged people in our state provide $4 billion dollars and wage benefits in the future. I wonder if hospitals will try to get into the nursing home business, making part of their hospitals nursing homes.

We will see lots of changes in the future. For example, part of the Health Care Act has community centers in it. I’d have to look back to see what year that take effect. What will community centers look like? Will they be places where people can go for screening and check ups? Who will own these centers?
