The Citizens Federation of Minnesota works statewide for you. They are for “a single payer system,” the Minnesota Health Plan.
They are working with the new Dayton adminstration to expose the HMO’s for wasting taxpayers money in Medical Assistance and Minnesota Care, and they want to create a real accountability over these insurance companies.
They are promoting the expansion of counties directly running the public low income programs and creating local public options for affordable coverage for families and businesses.
The Citizens Federation is into educating people on how the public adminstered health care delivery is much more efficient, cost effective and humane than continuing to let insurance middlemen control the system and waste billions of dollars.
This group is for building strong coalitions that will have a major impact on health care policy to make it compassionate, affordable and accessible for all citzens.
They are looking for volunteers; their membership is $15.00 per year, and you get a newsletter called the “VOICE” each month in the mail.
They are having a Pancake Breakfast, a Health Care Fundraiser, $5.00 for adults, $2.50 for children, and kids under 6 are free. The location is the West Duluth American Legion, 5814 Grand Avenue, 8-11 a.m., Saturday, February 5th. Call 727-0207 to reserve your tickets. There will be information about local health care access programs and a bake sale.
