What is Myofascial Release?

22 Jul

The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach is a safe, gentle and consistently effective way in producing positive and lasting results from  your pain. It is a very effective “hands on technique” which provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions. It  eliminates the pain, constant headaches and helps to restore motion. The therapy of Myofascial Release requires an understanding of the fascial system or the connective system.

Fascia is a touch connective tissue which spreads throughout your body in a three dimensional webs from head to your feet without  interruption. Trauma or inflammation can create a binding down of the fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures and/or organs.

These standards tests: x-ray, CAT, myelograms, electromyography, etc.  do not show where the pain is coming from. A high percentage of  people are suffering with the pain, have headaches, lack range of motion, and struggle with their misdiagnosis.

Normally, the fascia in our body is in a healthy relaxed state and is very flexible. Once one gets injured they become tense, loses their flexibility, and/or you may have poor posture due to the trauma, surgery, or whiplash.

Myofascial Release allows a licenced person to look at the unique individual, treat them with a variety of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. The goal is to restore the individual’s freedom and to have a pain free, active life style.
