I am allergic to dust mites, and I have shots every three weeks to once a month. I don’t know what I would do without those shots. I also taking, taking antihistamine drugs and use an inhaler. I am also allergic to mold, so I cannot eat those healthy cancer fighting mushrooms.
Dust mites can trigger common allergies. They are caused by dust bunnies or mites, mold, and animal dander. Brush your dogs and cats or have some one do it for you.
I am so glad I don’t live in the southern U.S. as they have cockroaches and people can be allergic to them. I remember them in an apartment in St. Peter, MN. I stood on the bed, screamed, ran out of the apartment, and went to the police department. Yes, I was desperate. A police man let me stay with his family. I hate cockroaches, mice, and bats. Sorry if you love them. These and spiders are not my thing.
Dust mites can be in your pillows, carpeting, upholstered furniture, and even mattresses. That’s why they say to wash these items OFTEN. Pillows and mattresses should be in zip up containers or covers.
What about mold? Mold can be in plants, so that is why I don’t grow indoor plants or dig in the garden. I use to say, “I can only grow geraniums outside where they belong.” Molds can be spread by spores and even air currents. Moist walls in a basement, leaking pipes, and other foundational issues can contribute as well.
Animals can have allergies too. Their fur can collect pollen, dust, mold and other allergens. Ever notice how pets lick and lick? It could be because of allergies. I am not even going to discuss anything other than dogs and cats. One of our dogs who is black licks and licks. I have to give him Benadryl once in awhile. I am unsure how to spell that word today. (Yes, first day with my new brain or I am suffering from brain over load today.) Our cat licks the fur off of her back end. If she has shots she has terrible allergic reactions.
You can relieve allergies by having indoor humidity below 55%. Do not use humidifiers or vaporizers. Warm moisture promotes bacteria. Use vent fans in the kitchen and in the house. I wish I had ceiling fans.
Use HEPA filters with the vacuum cleaner. Dust. Vacuum. Wash floors, clean carpet. I did that this past week to have a barbecue at my house but then canceled it due to a death.
